Valori Sharp, Lactation Educator and Postpartum Doula — leads the free breastfeeding support group in San Diego
Lactation Educator, Postpartum Doula, Future IBCLC

Led by a Dedicated Lactation Professional

Valori Sharp is the Administrative Assistant, Support Group Leader, Lactation Educator, and Postpartum Doula at the San Diego Breastfeeding Center. She is currently working toward becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In addition to leading this group, Valori provides postpartum support to families across East San Diego County.

Valori's path to lactation support was shaped by her own experiences. As a first-time mother at 17, she faced the trauma of being alone, difficulty and major pain when breastfeeding, a baby labeled 'failure to thrive' due to weight gain issues, and postpartum depression. When she and her husband decided to grow their family, she was determined to have a different experience — so she educated herself on every imaginable topic in the postpartum and breastfeeding world. That prep work, an amazing support system, and knowing when to ask for help gave her a wonderful experience. She went on to breastfeed her youngest for 14 months with zero signs of postpartum depression. When they started weaning, she decided to completely shift her career path — obtaining her Lactation Educator and Postpartum Doula certificates with plans to become an IBCLC.

This group is part of the San Diego Breastfeeding Center's mission to provide infant feeding support across San Diego County.

Common Questions

Common Questions About Our Breastfeeding Support Group

Who can attend?

This group is open to nursing parents and their babies. Due to limited space, attendance is currently limited to the parent-baby dyad only — partners and siblings cannot attend at this time. Please bring your breastfeeding pillow and any feeding supplies or supplementation you're currently using.

Is this really free?

Yes. There is no fee, no insurance requirement, and no membership needed. Registration is required so the group leader can prepare, but there is no cost to attend.

What if I need help with pumping or bottle feeding?

Brief guidance on pumping and bottle-feeding technique may be offered during the group. For more complex concerns like bottle refusal, flange fitting, or tongue tie assessment, a private lactation consultation with the San Diego Breastfeeding Center is recommended.

Where exactly is the group held?

AlignSD Family Chiropractic, 2525 Camino del Rio South, Suite 300, San Diego, CA 92108. Located in Mission Valley with easy freeway access. For stroller access, drive past the main building entrance and park at the far end on the right. Enter and take the elevator to the third floor — first door on the right.

How do I register?

Registration is free and takes less than a minute through Eventbrite. Registration closes at 8:00 PM the night before each session. If registration has closed, call 619-724-4117.
